The Loonacy of Mainstream Media

Believe it or not, there's actually a story on CNN giving advice to parents on what they should tell their kids about Britney Spear's younger sister's pregnancy at 16 years old.

This article is way to long. It takes up an entire page. The solution is simple on what to tell your kids about Britney Spears and her sister's troubles:

NOTHING

That's right. Who cares? I mean, why is the media obsessed with Britney? Do you really want to talk to your kids about someone you don't care about, and they likely don't either?

I really can't imagine anyone hinging on the latest news about Britney Spears. And if they are, well, that's really kinda sad.

yeah, i read a whole article

yeah, i read a whole article in the NYT about that this morning. apparently the problem is that she's in some popular nickelodeon tv show that all the preteen girls watch, and they're gonna notice when she, you know, gets really fat around the tummy. The NYT interviewed a bunch of teenage girls about this, leading to this amusing graf:

The girls, who had followed the story on TV and the Internet, were also critical of Ms. Spears’s mother, who had been widely quoted as saying that one reason she was shocked by her daughter’s pregnancy was that she had always followed her curfew.

“When I heard that, I started laughing out loud,” Ms. Akusis said. “You can have sex during the middle of the day,” adding, “It’s not like there’s a time limit.”
