First off, I’d like to thank you for visiting my website.
My full name is Robert W. Oliver II. That sounds very formal, so most people just call me Robert or Rob. Some people have called me Bob or Bobby, but I didn’t care for it too much.
I’m the CEO of OCS Solutions, Inc., a web hosting, design, and consulting firm that’s been in business for over 12 years. We’ve weathered some rough storms, including the dot-bomb bust and the 2nd wave of it last year, and are still as strong as ever.
But this is my personal site, and although work is going to permeate the content here somewhat, truth is, my mind is generally all over the place. I can’t really give you one, two, or even five different things that I’m interested in. That’s why it is titled In Search of Everything All At Once.
I could bore you with the history of this site, but it isn’t terribly interesting. The domain, 4gigs.com, used to be a free web hosting company. No, it didn’t give away 4 gigs of disk space – the name came from the 4 gigabyte boundary of the i386 processor that used to be very common in computers. Most of today’s computers still run in it, even those 64-bit machines that are common use a modified form of this amazing architecture that has persisted nearly 20 years. I’d be throughly surprised if you can tell me anything else that has persisted in computers that long.
